A Weight Set Guide

When it comes to selecting a weight set, there are a few things that you want to have in mind. The biggest question that you would want to ask yourself is if you have the room and finances for the set. Is this going to be something that you are going to stick to or just an overnight fad? You also need to know just exactly what type of equipment and other accessories that you will want with a weight set.

Once you have the planning stage out of the way, it is time to go out and purchase a good set. An olympic weight set might be a good option to consider. These are the ones with the 45/55 pound bars, they have large collars and have larger plates. Free weights are the most important thing when it comes to building solid muscle. Most of these weight sets come with at least 300 lbs. of plates and there are options where you can buy a bench with the weight set also. Obviously, these are expensive and will set you back a few dollars. This is where you need to take into account how dedicated you will be towards lifting. You don’t want to be putting a couple of thousand dollars into something that is going to last for a month or so.

Any trainer will tell you that free weights are the best thing for putting on muscle. While machines like a leg presser or Smith machine help build muscle, it is simple deadlifts, benches, and squats that have been said to be the best all round choice. These are the orginal movements in early weight training and is where an olympic weight set stands out among the rest because you can do these deadlift, bench, and squat routines very easily.

You don’t have to get too carried away and buy all the weights on show for a home gym. A single weight set with a bench is plenty for working out. Most benches come with a selection of added features as well like a leg curl/leg extension machine so the legs will get hit too.

One of these simple weight set solutions and a bit of dedication over time can see you make great strides in muscle toning and strenghtening.
